Board Members

Doug Wonnacott, Chair

President & Chief Executive Officer, R. D. Wonnacott & Associates

Doug Wonnacott has more than 35 years of experience in the chemical industry, where he managed industrial chemical, explosives, fertilizer, and agricultural chemicals businesses that provide products and services to the oil & gas, mining & smelting, water treatment, pulp & paper and agriculture industries. Most recently, Doug served as President, CEO, and Director at Canexus; prior to that he was COO of AgriProducts at Viterra.

Doug brings a focus on safety, customer engagement, operational excellence and financial performance to VoltaGrid. In addition to public and private company boards, Doug has also served on numerous industry association boards.

Doug holds a BA in economics (Honours) and MBA from the University of Western Ontario.


Tyson Birchall, Director

Managing Director, Longbow Capital Inc.

Tyson is the Managing Director of Longbow Capital Inc., a leading energy and clean-tech private equity investment manager based in Calgary, Alberta. Prior to joining Longbow in January 2009, Tyson was Vice President, Investment Banking at Tristone Capital Inc., a global energy specialist investment bank where he was directly involved in the execution of advisory mandates with total value exceeding $10 billion relating to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate restructurings.

Tyson is a CFA Charterholder and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) degree from Acadia University. Tyson has completed the Canadian Securities Course and Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course through the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI).


Eric Carre, Director

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Halliburton Company

Eric Carre is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Halliburton. In this role, he leads the Company’s financial strategy as well as its financial functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting, tax, internal assurance, treasury, corporate development, and investor relations. He is also a member of the Company’s executive committee.

Mr. Carre began his career with Halliburton in 1991 as a Project Engineer and Manager of Technology. He has held multiple operational roles in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe/Africa regions, as well as other leadership positions, including Vice President of Drill Bits & Services, Vice President of Baroid, and Senior Vice President of the Drilling & Evaluation Division. He most recently served as of Executive Vice President of Global Business Lines where he managed the Drilling & Evaluation and Completion & Production divisions, as well as Project Management and Landmark Software. He was also responsible for Technology and was Chief Health, Safety and Environment Officer.

Mr. Carre holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, and an MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a 2006 graduate of the Halliburton President’s Leadership Excellence Program.


James R. Jackson, Director

Managing Director, Sustainable Energies Group, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board

As Managing Director in the Sustainable Energies group at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), James R. Jackson focuses on direct private investments in the Commodities and Alternative Fuels portfolio. Prior to joining CPPIB in 2017, James spent 18 years at several small and mid-cap E&P companies in various operational, business development and senior management capacities.

In addition to the VoltaGrid board, James also sits on the board of Encino Acquisition Partners LLC, a Texas headquartered E&P operator in the Ohio Utica formation and California Resources Corporation, an independent energy and carbon management company committed to energy transition. He holds a Bachelor of Science with distinction in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary, is a professional engineer registered in Alberta, and is a CFA charter holder.


Steven Looke, Director

Managing Partner, Walter Ventures

Steven Looke serves as a Director of VoltaGrid. Mr. Looke is a managing partner at Walter Ventures, an investment firm based in Houston where he is responsible for overseeing investments and finding new opportunities primarily in the energy sector. He previously worked in energy and industrial private equity with The Sterling Group in Houston and Madison Dearborn Partners in Chicago. In addition to VoltaGrid, Mr. Looke serves on multiple private company boards as well as a board member of the Houston Methodist Academic Institute. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and his MBA from Stanford University.


Tim McKeon, Director

Senior Vice President & Treasurer, Halliburton Company

Tim McKeon has a wide range of experience in the international energy industry and currently serves as Senior Vice President and Treasurer at Halliburton. He leads the global corporate finance, capital markets, treasury operations, pension, and credit management functions. Mr. McKeon joined Halliburton in 2006, progressing through various finance roles including assistant treasurer, director of finance for Drilling & Evaluation, and director of treasury operations. Prior to joining Halliburton, Mr. McKeon served as assistant treasurer for Colonial Pipeline, the largest refined products pipeline in the United States. He also held positions in corporate finance at Ingram Entertainment Inc. and Bankers Trust.

Mr. McKeon earned bachelor’s degrees in finance and marketing from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from Emory University.


Nathan Ough, Director

President & Chief Executive Officer, VoltaGrid LLC

Nathan Ough has an extensive background in natural gas fuel technology and generation deployment across North America. Prior to VoltaGrid, Nathan co-founded Certarus Ltd and its associated USA business unit, which included the development and expansion of the organization over the last decade to one of the leading low carbon energy solutions providers. Nathan was an executive for Certarus since its foundation and was instrumental in expanding the USA platform from no presence in 2014 to now one of the leading natural gas fuel companies nationwide.

Prior to Certarus, Nathan worked on Macquarie Capital’s Global Energy Investment Banking Team covering the energy capital markets. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics from the University of New Brunswick.
